The treatment is a "combination of a microneedling, followed by the application of PRP (platelet-rich plasma). The PRP is derived from the serum portion of the blood, which contains platelets. The platelets contain high levels of growth factors, which, when applied to the skin, will stimulate cell turnover."
In laymen's terms: It's a facial that essentially uses your own blood to help promote the healthy activity of your skin cells.
Some of the conditions that you treat with a plasmic facial include:
- Acne scars
- Wrinkles
- Stretch marks
- Fine lines
- Surgical scars
- Hyperpigmentation
- Lax skin
- Sunburns or other sun damage
- Large pores
- Uneven skin texture
HOW DOES MICRONEEDLING WORK?
Microneedling works to increase the production of collagen, elastin, and other healing factors to help tighten, lift, and smooth the skin. Multiple tiny sterile needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries on the first layer of skin. These micro-injuries minimally damage the skin to strategically trigger the body’s natural healing processes to produce more collagen and elastin. Microneedling can be performed on various areas of the skin including the face, neck, and body.
After the treatment, the skin may be red to pink, but will return to normal in 3-5 days, depending on the depth of the needles used. Patients typically report an immediate tightness of the skin after the procedure. Results are seen in 1-2 weeks, but may continue to improve over the following 6 months.
Most patients are good candidates for this procedure however, we do require that you complete a consultation prior to your service.
